The Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce’s Visitors Center is located at 531 Front Street and is open five days a week.
Located on the historic waterfront, the Visitors Center offers information on attractions, accommodations, events, dining and much more.
The center is located in a nearly 170-year-old historic home known for many years as the “Harper House.” The community saved the structure from demolition in 2002, moved it several city blocks to its current location and renovated it for use as the official Visitors Center. Today, the the center’s staff members welcome nearly 15,000 visitors annually! Read more about the history of the Visitors Center here.
The Visitors Center offers a variety of information not only about Georgetown but also about the surrounding area, as well. Susan Sawyer and Jill Santopietro, experienced historians, make up the center’s staff and happily greet guests and eagerly explain the city’s diverse and fascinating history.
Other Chamber staff members work upstairs. A variety of community organizations use the upstairs boardroom for meetings throughout the year.
