The annual Georgetown Shakespeare Festival takes place in February and features performers from the nationally acclaimed American Shakespeare Center theater company based in Staunton, Virginia. Every winter the ASC company brings innovative interpretations of Shakespeare and his contemporaries to theaters around the country.
For several years, the ASC has added Georgetown’s Shakespeare Festival to its tour. This year’s festival offers an evening of theater with a Saturday night performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream on Feb. 1, but also a school-day matinee, intended especially for Georgetown and Horry County middle and high school students but open to all students.
In addition to their two performances, the ASC will be offering two workshops for aspiring actors. Dates and topics will be announced soon. The festival will also include street performances, a film and presentations.
Location: 1200 Highmarket Street, Georgetown
